Xavier: Lumiere (MN)

Scaling statDEF

Xavier’s Lumiere is a DEF scaling myth that excels in crowd control in mob stages and debuffing the enemy/enemies. His ranks perform best with his signature weapon, but at low ranks, he can still use the Hunter Claymore, making him a versatile and very beginner friendly companion.

Column

Strengths

  • Top tier crowd control
  • Does not need a lot of DEF to be powerful, even at R0

Weaknesses

  • Long CD for his support

Passive skill
You and Xavier’s solo basic attacks against an enemy will mark it with a moon icon - Phasing Moon. Each hit you that the two of you lands will get a stack of Phasing Moon, indicated by the moon icon “filling up”. After 4 stacks, a beam of Moonlight will drop and deal additional damage to the enemy. Enemies within a small area of the beam will have their movement speed reduced by 25%.

Lumiere’s gameplay is very straightforward and doesn’t change much across ranks - in general, use resonance and active skills as they come off cooldown, and charged attacks while waiting. As much as possible, make sure to aim your active skill through as many opponents as possible to maximize mob damage.

His support is possibly the strongest part of the kit and should be used whenever possible. However, it has a very long CD - you can trigger perfect dodges to instantly charge it up and then wait until it stops flashing to make sure you can repeatedly trigger it.

R0 & R-1

When using Lumiere in stable open orbit or his directional orbits, you will usually have to equip an ORB cube. This means that you may not have enough energy to use both active and resonance skills every time their CDs are over. Prioritize using his resonance to maximize damage.

R2+

The R2 pair bonus results in the active cooldown being reduced quickly as Xavier does his solo attacks. Make sure to have EEB equipped so that you can spam it as often as possible.

Hunter Claymore Rotations

Despite being a DEF scaling companion, Lumiere works well with the Hunter Claymore since the strongest part of his kit is the crowd control, which is tied to his support skill, and not his signature weapon. Grouping with just the claymore is tricky, so combining it with Lumiere’s grouping ability makes the claymore’s damage especially effective against mobs. There are no specific notes for Lumiere when using the Hunter Claymore, just follow the usual Claymore Rotation.
