Basics about a team

Team building can be very intimidating if you are starting out. Here are the basics!

  1. A team is always made up of a maximum 2
solar cardsCard has the “sun” icon
    , and 4
lunar cardsCard has a crescent moon icon
. You cannot mix and match cards from different LI. You only need to have one out of six card slots equipped to deploy a companion.
  2. Where possible, always equip a
solar pairTwo solar cards that are matched
. Pair bonuses can greatly increase your damage output. More about pairs.
  1. 5⭐ cards will always have higher base stats than 4⭐ cards (at similar levels), even if the 4⭐ is max ranked. Cards stats table.
  2. However, 5⭐ cards are not always better to use than 4⭐ cards. Stella matched battles are a lot easier to fight due to the weakened mechanic, compared to brute forcing a level. Using a 4⭐ (or even 3⭐) card to stella match the stage will greatly reduce the stats required to beat it.
  3. The “auto-equip” function will always prioritise stella-matching a team. We do not recommend using the function because it does not recognise who your main is. This means it would rather choose six level 1 cards that can stella match the team, instead of six level 80 cards that do not stella match.

Myth companion

You can use a myth companion on any solar cards (or even without them). Similarly, you can use a free 4⭐ companion when 5⭐ solar cards have been equipped.

Assembling a team

Before you can enter a battle, you must pick the team that you will bring into combat with you.

In team window you have:

  • Information: This button opens up a quick summary of all the info in this guide if you need a reminder.
  • Protofield Stella: Some stages have stellactrum that can be matched. Every stella that can be matched by the team grants it 5% dmg boost, up to a max of 30% boost. For example, in the image above, the field stella is 2 blue and 1 pink. The team has 3 blue and 3 pink, granting a total of 30% dmg boost. Alternatively, if your team had 1 blue and 5 pink, you would still receive the full 30% dmg boost, but would be considered a brute force team. You can tap the stella to see a description of your team’s current stella bonuses. Matching the stella also means resonance skills have double their normal shield breaking ability.
  • Team Stats: This opens up a summary of the team stats of your current equipped memories. It includes a table of the sum of all the stats of the memories used in the team as well as the active pair bonuses (if available).

Oath Recovery Boost

Any oath boost from an R1 solar pair bonus is not shown here as part of the Oath Recovery Boost.

Sharing stats

When discussing teams or asking for help in the LaDs Discord server, give a screenshot of both the main team set up page as well as the team stats page so helpers can more easily give you personalised advice.

  • Recommended Memory Level: The game puts a recommendation for what level your memories should be to easily beat the stage.

Expert note

Note that while this is useful in early and story battles, it quickly over-recommends levels on orbits and SHC because it does not take into account cores. Following this recommendation too early will result in mismanagement of stamina. Refer to our Starting point guide for player recommended starter card levels.

  • Change Weapon/Change Companion: These two circles allow you to customize what you bring into battle. Both will open into the overall same interface that will allow you to change your companion, your weapon or your battle outfit. All free and myth companions are available to use for any team of the same LI, regardless of the cards used. All [|hunter weapons] can be used with any companion (including myths), while exclusive weapons can only be used with their matching myth companion. Battle outfits do not affect combat at all and are only changed for aesthetics.
  • Change Companion Outfit: Make your partner look pretty in battle if you have an alternate outfit available for the companion. 💅 Has no effect on battle abilities.
  • Team Assembly: Here you can change memories that are equipped to the team. Tap any of the boxes to enter the memories selection page. For battles outside of directional orbits, if you want to change LI, you must empty the entire team and choose memories again.
  • Team Auto Equip: Let the computer choose a team based on certain priorities (default, rarity, level, rank). In general, it will try to match the stage’s stella first. We do not recommend using this function at all since it does not take into account your cores or your main LI.
  • View & Apply Pre-set teams: If you have any teams set up on your memories page, this button will pull them up and allow you to quickly equip those teams.
  • Enter Battle: Let’s go combat! Only click this button once you are ready, as you cannot return from combat to make changes without exiting.

Warning

Note that for battles that require two teams, make sure you are happy with both team set-ups before entering battle.

The Team Assembly Plan

Stellactrum

Stella Matched - when the cards in the team match the protofield stellactrum. Stella matched team:

In cases where the stage does not require 6 stella to be fully matched, the remaining slots can be filled by:

  • Another card(s) with matching color; this will increase the boost DMG (see below Partial Stella Match), or
  • Your most leveled card(s) with the best protocores. Choosing between the two above options will depend greatly on the card stats. If the stella matching option requires using a poorly built card, then an unmatched well built card may be a better option. If unsure, you can choose to use the damage calculator by @tokyoapple to calculate your best option, or you can try both options and see which works better.

A fully stella matched team means that resonance skills Double their shield breaking potential. With the exception of Caleb’s FA companion, in battles with normal/elite enemies, shields will be broken with One resonance skill and in battles with boss enemies, shields will be broken with Two resonance skills. When shields are broken, enemies become Weakened, meaning they will take more damage.

Mob with 2 protoshield:

Boss with 4 protoshields:

Brute Force - when the cards in the team do NOT match the protofield stellactrum. With the exception of Caleb’s FA companion, this usually means that normal/elite enemies with shields take twice as long to become weakened, and bosses take 4 times as long (with some exceptions - see Boss guides). A brute force team typically requires a full [|crit build].

Partial Stella Match - Any card that is in the team that matches the protofield stellactrum grants a 5% bonus, even if the team cannot perfectly match, resulting in a brute force build.

Brute Force vs Stella matching

Depending on the stage, there will be required stellactrum colours that you will need to match. Although matching all colours is the optimal way to go, this can be difficult especially for players who do not build all LIs and have limited card selection. But no need to worry, where there’s, a will there’s a way!

Stella matching - this is when all stella colors are matched as required. You have the advantage of putting the enemies into a weakened state. Your stat priority will be relatively high Damage boost to weakness (D2W).

Brute team - this can be either partial stella match or no stella match at all. Stat priority will be high Crit rate % and Crit dmg % -  a “crit build”. Brute force teams also require higher scaling stats when compared to a stella matched team.

Solars, Weapon and Companion priorities

Solar pair priority

Myth solar pair (5⭐ pair) > 4⭐ pair R3 > one 5⭐ and one 4⭐ > 4⭐ pair R0-2

Companion: Always prioritise using a myth companion over a free companion, even if you don’t use myth solars.

If you don’t have any myth companions, you will have to use a free companion. Sylus and Caleb have only one free companion, while the OG3 have a few to choose from. Recommended OG3 free companions:

  • Xavier: Deepspace hunter
  • Rafayel: Fresh Paint
  • Zayne: Medic of the Arctic

Weapon: If you are using a myth companion, in most cases you will use their exclusive weapon. For attack scaling myth companion, claymore is also a common choice. For more details, visit their corresponding guides..

For free companions, we recommend using the hunter claymore or guns.

  • Claymore - for boss stages, and mobs stages when using
minstatsThe minimal stats to pass a stage
    .
  • Guns - good for grouping in mob stages, when we need to fight multiple enemies at once.
