Before we start
This combat guide will include some terminology and acronyms. These terms and acronyms are commonly used in other guides and in combat chats. We will try to use less acronyms in the beginner guide, but here is the link to the Glossary.
Starting point
Every combat player has to start somewhere, but for first time players, the amount of things to do can be overwhelming. For a game that’s marketed as an otome, there sure is a lot of combat content, and we understand that it can be a lot. We recommend focusing your efforts on the below at the start:
- Pick a main.
- Level 5⭐ cards to 60/60 and 4⭐ cards to 50/50. Focus on your main’s primary and secondary colours. Do not level any 3⭐ cards unless you are doing so for affinity.
- Clearing all 9 bounty hunt levels for each of the different types.
- [|Mr Beanie]
- [|Heartbreaker]
- [|Pumpkin Magus]
- [|Lemonette]
- [|Snoozer]
- Clearing Core Hunts Zone 10
- [|Fusion Area (Green/Red)]
- [|Dissociation Area (Blue/Pink)]
- [|Disambiguation Area (Purple/Yellow)]
- Work on hunter contests and orbits only as far as you can get without leveling cores unless you are comfortable with cores basics.
- Once you are comfortable with how to build your companions, prioritize the Senior Hunter Contest (SHC) more than orbits. SHC is a renewable source of income that refreshes every 2 weeks. Meanwhile, orbits are not time limited and only provide a one time reward. As you level teams for SHC, your orbit teams will also naturally get built.
- Accept that this is a gacha game and that the business model is to encourage spending real money through FOMO mechanics, such as getting stuck on battles. This game can be played with two IRL resources: patience and money. If you have money, you don’t need patience; if you do not have or want to spend money, you need patience. Both will get you pretty far in this game.
Picking a main
All battles in Love and Deepspace require fighting with your Companion / partner. As you progress through orbits and hunter contests, you will have to build your team to face the toughest of opponents.
Unless your only goal in this game is to combat, priority on who to main should be dependent on which LI you prefer on a personal level - this is an otome afterall. However, given the current availability of cards and the game’s monetisation plan, there are some things to note:
- Building teams is resource intensive and if you are not a high spender, you will have to pick only one or two LIs to focus on.
- Being a Sylus or Caleb solo main is very difficult, especially if you started after the release/rerun of their limited companion. The majority of battles are meant to be stella matched and these two LIs are severely lacking in easily accessible cards, which limits their stella coverage, even within their own directional orbits. We recommend if you like one of these two boys, to choose a “secondary” main that is part of the “OG3” (Xavier, Zayne, or Rafayel).
- If you want to main one of the OG3, you won’t necessarily need a secondary but having one can be convenient. Try to limit levelling second LI’s cards to those with stella that do not overlap with your main’s stella coverage.
- If you are ftp, you will have to manage your expectations. Myth companions are vital for successful combat but can be costly to obtain if you have poor luck. This means you may have to skip some lunar banners in order to make sure you have enough diamonds to pull myths. You need to have 150 pulls (or 22500 diamonds) to guarantee a myth pair. Don’t pull on myth banners if you cannot guarantee this number.
- If you have spare diamonds and want to use them on lunar banners, prioritise the ones that have your main’s primary or secondary colours. Card memoria can always be found elsewhere if you just want to experience the stories.
